#DEFINE - Why?

Yeah, I just haven't heard anything compelling to use them over variables. I can just have a section where I do my definitions called CONSTANTS and name them accordingly. Just seems that I come across lots of code that use DEFINE and lots that don't. Just trying to figure out what the big advantage is. Just haven't seen it yet.
