Seems like they've raised the hackles of practically every geek who's got a computer with Vista. This story is all over the net.

From the pieces I've put together it appears:
- A fairly low-end sound card, that is advertised as Vista enabled, is not Vista enabled. The drivers are very, very bad.
- A user of Creative's cards (Daniel), see's the problem, waits many, many months for Creative to fix the problem. They don't
- He reverse engineers the drivers and fixes them. Using his drivers Creative cards work flawlessly on Vista
- He posts a link to the drivers on Creatives forums. They become very popular as Creative still has not fixed their drivers.
- Either Friday or today, Creative sends him a cease-and-desist. Asks him to remove the link to the drivers and to no longer offer them.
- The forums all thru the net are alive with talk now. Some think Creative was right because Daniel asked for donations from the download site. Not required, just asked. Many, many, many others point out that Creative has not fixed a known problem in how many months?.

The worse part (in my mind), is that there have been comments from Creative that they purposely have not fixed the drivers. As originally noted, this is a lower end sound card. They want you to purchase the upper-end card. This even thou the lower-end card has Vista enabled on the box.

I wouldn't buy any Creative stock right now. Although I'm not sure how many alternative sound cards their are.
