Does your phone answering system run as a service, or as a user process? Running as a service might be a workaround.

Is anyone connecting to the computer via Remote Desktop or some other remote-control product? Maybe it's something like they are logging off when they should be simply disconnecting (if applicable).

Has a network administration policy (possibly via a Group Policy Object) been set that forces the logon screen to appear after X minutes of inactivity?
