>>IMO, we have the same responsibility to our customers as do doctors, lawyers, accountants, investment people... we should provide the right advice when customers want to do the wrong thing. Customers may not realize the side effects. Suppose they have an employee who is an epilectic and the blinking causes them to have an attack.

>>I've never said that Microsoft has the best UI standards, but they have spent millions of dollars on Ux research. Far more than I've spent, so I think they have a good idea on what works and what doesn't. What I have said is that most users are used to the Microsoft way, particularly Office, so they feel more comfortable when we create a UI that follows Office.

>Craig - 1st off I agree with you about Microsoft leading the way on standards over everyone (except Apple maybe, but apple works in a closed environment and sues the crap out of anyone who doesn't adhere to the apple line/patents/ddk, or doesn't accept their marketing hype).

>BUT, you really shot a hole in your argument when you mention Microsoft and Office as an example. Millions and millions of users got used to the Microsoft Office interface, and thousands if not millions of applications were created trying to adhere to that look and feel.

>Then came Office 2007. Case shattered.

It took me 10 minutes to find the print button in that the other night. Is there an option to use the previous version's menus?
