I doubt it, because that meant that ALL devices connected through RS232 port should have the SAME identity function. That is not an USB.
But the connection parameter could vary from device to device and that makes identifying the device almost impossible.
One thing you could do, send an identifying string (if you have one) to the device and if you didn't get a proper answering that means that device connected is NOT the device you expect.
