If the US was like other countries like for example the UK or other democratic countries, you would not have presidents or prime ministers that earn that status through inheritance. We want to have the best intellectual candidate, not the one who has the biggest wallet, mouth or power otherwise. I this respect the US is living in the 18 and 19th century of the current western world.

If you're aiming at monarchies like in The Netherlands and the UK (and any western monarchy I know of), they don't really have any power in the government. Their status is merely cerimonial.
