I'm not saying do away with desktop apps... but for business applications in particular more and more of that is moving to the web, especially custom applications...

Ask yourself how many applications you're asked to build as desktop apps anymore for businesses. There's still a need no doubt but it's getting to be less and less as people are accepting doing more and more on the Web both internal and external...

>No more desktop applications? :O I'm a bit sceptical here Rick. That would mean that MS Office, Quicken, Visual Studio, etc. will all go web? What about ClickOnce applications? Do they have any future?

>Personnaly, I hate web apps as a user and as a developper. I miss the rich features that we have in WinForms and I find web apps way more complicated and way longer to develop than their WinForms conterpart.

>>I'm not sure. I guess I think for the moment for most apps WinForms is still the best choice, or if that's possible Win32 apps for typical utility applications - small and lightweight.

>>Shrug - it's a tough call there really aren't any great solutions out there anymore for the desktop - no vendors are putting any effort anymore into building desktop applications...
