I’m installing COMCTL32.DLL using Inno but I have some concerns.
Under “How Do I Install…?” on the “Inno Setup Frequently Asked Questions” page (
http://www.jrsoftware.org/isfaq.php) there is a process for installing COMCTL32.DLL. It states, “Don't try to install COMCTL32.DLL directly using the [Files] section; Microsoft does not allow this, and it's dangerous.”
At the Microsoft web site (
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cb2cf3a2-8025-4e8f-8511-9b476a8d35d2&DisplayLang=en) you can download the 50comupd.exe file but this was published on 9/14/1999.
Is the 50comupd.exe file still the best way to install the COMCTL32.DLL?
What can be done if the COMCTL32.DLL was installed prior to the user installing my application but it’s not registered?
Is there a better alternative to using the COMCTL32.DLL?
