>>They were a very good team, no question. I discounted them for quite a while because of their conference but they were the exception that proves the rule.

>>Re the 38 wins, not taking anything away from it but I was getting tired of hearing that stat. It's a bogus statistic IMO given how many more games teams play now. In UCLA's heyday they played maybe 25 regular season games, no conference tournament, and 4 in the NCAA tournament. I don't think anyone would seriously suggest Memphis (or anyone else this year, or this decade) was better than them. They just play more games.

>Matters not, the wins are wins. People grouse about the strength of schedule, but the fact is we beat several top 25 teams like Oklahoma, UCONN, Arizona, and Georgetown. Then we blew all but 1 opponent out in the conference. So. . . . Memphis is the greatest team ever to play college basketball! You can't dispute the facts!<vbg>
Can't you accept agreement? ;-) I agreed they were an excellent team. Beating so many good non-conference teams made up for playing in such a lame conference. I wonder why they stuck with Conference USA when so many teams were switching conferences a few years ago? C-USA was decent until several of their better teams bailed out.
