Too many questions, too difficult questions for a beginner

I see no reason to continue using vs2005 if you have vs2008
I cannot answer about the project compatibility

What I do know, is that in vs2008 you can choose the target .net framework (2.0, 3.0, or 3.5)

Also, I do not plan to use WinForms, but directly go for WPF. Dunno whether that is a wise decision, though
