Yes, when I needed to copy a class I hacked SCX properties field and moved to another file. I'm not sure it's the best approach, AFAIK there is some tools such as CopyClass (Glenn Domeracki - update - checked his Contributions but didn't find it :( ?), but I never tried.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
