Well, just think of the kind of headaches you'd be getting if you were trying to do it manually. :-) It took me a while to figure out how VSS wanted to work, but once it started making sense to me, I didn't have any more trouble.

I've only done one project that had multiple developers working with it, though, and we were pulled out of VSS because of some confidence-level problems. I've continued working on it myself, though.
