Try, in your mind, just as an exercise, to eliminate your current batch of conclusions.
Now, open yourself to the possibilities that 15 years from now, Iraq is a real working democracy.
Think about that for a while.
Think about the local impact. Then the regional impact. Then the global impact.
Then consider what would happen if we simply maintained the status quo, because that would have been easiest.
I know, it seems unlikely that we'll succeed.
This sort of thing has never really happened before.
That makes it all the more amazing, in my eyes.
