>I can see you're hoping for some kind of utopian event that will fix everything that's happened the last several yrs.

Not really.

I believe in people, their potential, and their self-determination.

I believe sometime during the next couple decades, great Arab political figures will arise in their society and, like Lincoln or MLKJr, will have a powerful effect on the mentality of other Arabs.

That's what happened here over 200 years.

It will happen gradually over there too.

>How bout if u close your eyes. And picture your home in total rubble. What u call your country is now basically a state of free-for-all.

That Iraq is a free-for-all is a bit of an exaggeration.

On the other hand, Italy, during the Renaissance when art, science, and politics took momentous steps forward was a free-for-all between waring city states.

>The problem is, we've opened this pandora's box. It wouldn't be quite so bad, but there were many experts who warned that consequences of toppling Saddam and what we would need to be prepared for. And they were not only ignored, but shunned, even ostracized.

I was against the invasion.

I'm not an expert, but it didn't take a genius to figure out this would be an enormously difficult and time consuming project.

It does take something else, though, to see the big picture, and to carry on regardless of those who don't see it.

>And everyday we make it worse.

You see what you want to see.

I believe the world gets a little better every single day.

Maybe not in ways I can totally comprehend or even observe, but that's what I believe.

>Just by our being there. So now we are in a catch-22.

>Tell me how u see this great democracy unfolding over there?

I see it on the news.
