>It does not really matter. To me, the US was determined to invade iraq irregardless the evidence. And that was because there was a more compelling (but harder to sell) argument to start the war. Now before you start acusing me again from anti-americanism... This stance is supported my the majority of americans as well.
The "anti-American" label has been hurled around a lot in this thread. By folks who live in the greatest country in the world and is the very cradle of 'freedom of expression'!
And it has not been limited to foreign contributors to the thread.
This fact tells me that further discussion is futile, being based primarily on emotion only.
The article you cited (regarding the U.S. needing to protect the USD as the default global currency) makes it very clear to the reader that publically-stated "reasons" for going to war in Iraq are complete propaganda - marketing bullets. The same process in now underway with Iran.
I have never heard/read one article - news or financial - that Iran was making moves to have the USD replaced (or compete with) other currencies for the buying/selling of oil. Similarly, I had never seen any mention anywhere that Saddam had been pressing to have the € replace the USD for the oil market in general.
I can certainly see, after reading the article, why the U.S. wants to protect the USD as the world's default currency - it gives them huge control over most of the world in a very clandestine way. But it sure does make me wonder about the '... by the People, for the People...' part of their Constitution!
