I think the real achievement in aviation and engineering is not that a aircraft weighing hundreds of tons can jump off a runway and fly through the air, but that's it's done
thousands of times each day and is
completely routine. A bird strike/engine failure during takeoff (especially with a twinjet) is one of the most serious emergency scenarios, but these guys make it sound just like another day at the office. My hat's off to them.
