>Thanks Alan. I think I understand about the dropdown combos but it only does something if you click on a choice. If you click the mouse outside of the dropdown list then nothing happens. But, of course, if you click outside the dropdown list but on one of the squares then it fires the click event of the square, which loads that article in a browser. Is that what happens for you?

I clicked on the drop-down button to open the list, and then I clicked on it again to close the list. The hilight happened to be on the first choice, and that's what came up - even though it had not been actually selected and the value box of the combo list was still empty. But you're right, if I click outside the combo box altogether, then it doesn't make a choice for me. It's not a big deal, Jos. The program is nice enough not to worry about it. Just an observation.

>>Nicely done Jos. I installed it this morning and it works as advertised. If I might make one suggestion, your drop-down boxes start out blank, but don't allow a blank once they are dropped down. In other words, there is an automatic hilight, and even if I just wanted to look at the list and not 'go anywhere', it takes me away anyway. I'm used to it now, but the first time it did that, it suprised the heck out of me.

>>>Hi All,
>>>
>>>For all you news addicts here is a little app I put together for fun. News Maps visually reflect news aggregated from numerous sources including Google News, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Washington Post, BBC and many more news outlets from around the world. The information is displayed in
>>>a Treemap which are space-constrained visualizations of information.
>>>
>>>The most popular stories occupy the largest rectangles while less popular stories fall into progressively smaller rectangles. You can see all the headlines and read any story just by clicking the headline.
>>>
>>>You can view several News Maps at the same time, each showing news from as many as 15 different news categories. The maps automatically refresh every 15 minutes and then show the movement of stories in respect of their growing or declining popularity.
>>>
>>>Download the zip file from;
