Kevin, I've always perceived you as a smart dude. From a distance, of course. ;-) So: apart from cutting code, what do you do well? IMHO you'll find a job easier and with higher pay (and with less chance of being outsourced out of existence) if you focus on all those other skills apart from delivering to a spec written by somebody else, which I promise you is increasingly a commodity.
