Thanks Charles,

My view is that a little flack isn’t a bad thing. I don’t mind it at all on a personal level. I have been a little disappointed in the sectarianism that I have seen, but, I can’t really say that I am surprised. I have been tracking this technology for a while now and have been discussing it with fellow programmers and I get a similar reaction from some who I would have thought might be excited that this sort of technology is on the way. It reminds me some of the feeling I have when our family starts out to go to a restaurant and we decide to go to the Steak House and I get my mouth all set for a big juicy steak and then when we are almost there my wife sees a Seafood place and wants to go there instead. I love seafood just as much as I do steak but at that point I am fully invested in going to the steak place. Having to go through the whole ‘mouth setting’ routine is irksome and usually gets a sharp first response from me. I think a similar thing is going on here. People are already invested in getting away from VFP and do not want to entertain the thought of going through the whole thing again. The great thing about this approach is that we can play in both worlds and even cross back and forth at will. Using this technology we don’t have to choose one over the other. We can eat both steak and seafood depending on out customer’s needs. This analogy is making me hungry!

Great! Again, I have NO connection to eTechnologia and if anyone wants to take up the challenge and produce a VFP .Net compiler that is better I say ‘Let the best tool win!’

Thanks again Charles, I knew there were still guys like you in the community.

Steve
