When I access a FAQ referenced in the thread I can edit its content (and even remove it - haven't tried, though, in case there is no confirmation) regardless on who is the FAQ originator. I fixed few typos just in case and hopefully the content is still correct.

If anyone can change FAQ's content it would be more like wiki updates. But I don't think we need to allow remove functionality to everyone.
