I have a table with 750,000 records which has data I need to use to update existing records in a production table. What do you recommend for accomplishing this task. I am concerned if I write a straight sql update, the production table will be locked while the table is being updated with the 750,000 records' data. Therefore I was thinking I need to setup the sql script to process X number of records at a time.
