What is index key expression for the second index? Is SET EXACT OFF at the time when SEEK is executed?

>I've got a couple index tags, one of which doesn't seem to work until I get both parts of it together for seeking. Unfortunately, I am doing a combo seek, based on two fields of data. I do it intereactively within a form as the user types each character.

However, when I use the MACH_DATE tag to search with, it goes straight to EOF() while in an interactive search when I start searching on "0301" one key stroke at a time. It doesn't work until I have the whole ENCHILADA all put together such as a seek on "030120080430", the first four digits being the Machine #.
