Great comment, Bob. Getting any better at blackjack? ;-)

The thing about Ed was that if you didn't know him he could be off-putting. He could be rude, crass, vulgar; if you couldn't keep up with him he had no use for you - but that was mainly because I really believe that he was so doggone smart that he couldn't understand why others couldn't comprehend him.

OTOH, the Ed you had to peel through layers to get to was astoundingly sweet. When he visited me he would bring unbelievable gifts for my wife and kids. One day we got a live "Lobstergram" from Ed out of the blue.

Ed, George Tasker, and I became pretty close since we we all became MVPs at about the same time. Later, Ed, Craig Berntson, and I formed a business partnership.

I think it's important we periodically remember the Ed Rauhs, the Tom Rettigs, and the Tom Pipers. They added color and substance to the community and that's more important than ever in the current climate.

>>Ed Rauh passed away almost 6 years ago and still ranks in the top ten of UT all-time posters. I don't know what he'd be doing now if he'd survived but, undoubtedly, something we all would be amazed at.
