Actually, I'm not interested in merge capabilities of cells; in fact, I have done some of that using containers within cells already.

I'm only interested in putting column headers that span multiple columns (and scroll appropriately), without changing the columns.

As for MSHFlex, I can't say that I've heard of it. In any case, I've got a very large investment in my own custom grid class, and unless I could get all of the same features from replacement (seems unlikely, I would say), I would be extremely hesitant about using such an alternative.
