We have two full-time employees who telecommute, one that telecommutes one day/week, and I'm consideering adding a couple of days.
If you go the "hotel" route, the expense would be MUCH lower to have your employer rent a small apartment near the office. You'd have to be your own maid service, but you'd also have less to haul back & forth because you could just leave stuff at the apartment. If set up right, the apartment could be used by another telecommuter the nights you're not there.
