I have a situation at work which I thought I should share with you.
We do a lot of data - matching which runs into millions of records. All the data is kept in MySQl server and we fetch the data in batches using ODBC connection into VFP for matching. The results are then processed accordingly. The matching program is sometimes executed on the server machine itself or sometime on the production machine connected to the server with a high speed network. This choice is done on the amount of data to be matched.
Now the server machine which was running MS Server 2003 OS is being turned into a linux box for more benefits.

I was wondering if somebody could suggest me a way so that I can still have a choice to execute our matching program on server. I was also thinking to changing to another language for server side matching and wanted somebody to suggest me some.

Lastly, please don't label me as another VFP deserter. It is still my preferred language of programming.
