Hi Sergey
I was sure I had done this before and it did not make any difference. However this time it worked like a charm so I must have made a mistake somewhere in my previous attempts.
Thanks,
Simon
>>In some of my previous installations of VFP I was able to open a table from Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the table and choosing "Open". However in my current installation this process treats the table as a "PRG" file and trys to run it. What settings in Windows need to be changed to get VFP to open the table instead of compiling it?

http://www.berezniker.com/content/pages/visual-foxpro/fix-vfp-file-associations-open-files-one-vfp-instance helps. You can take the first few lines related to the tables if you don't feel comfortable updating all associations
