Hello Craig,

Take a look at http://www.swfox.net/sessions.aspx and scroll down to the session titled "Automating QuickBooks with QODBC", Presenter: Rick Borup.

QODBC, a commercial product (http://www.qodbc.com/), is the better answer for your challenge. Rick presented this session at our Chicago FUDG user group meeting a couple of months ago, and it was excellent! Packed full of useful information and code examples.

One of the major points he made was the quality of documentation. Take a look at any of the links on this page: http://doc.qodbc.com/qodbc/Qodbc_20_us.html and drill into the field detail for any of the tables.

Another member of the user group also showed some code he had developed about 4 years ago using the QuickBooks SDK. After reviewing the code and seeing Rick Borup's presentation, he said "If I had to make any non-trivial changes to this code, I would scrap it all and start over with QODBC".

If you can't wait for SWFox, or you can't make the conference, I would suggest contacting Rick Borup at http://www.ita-software.com/. A couple of hours of consulting with him will likely save you a couple of weeks of development time on the project.
