We are beginning the process of moving our data from VFP to SQL Server. This will be a multi-year process, as we gradually revised applications and convert the data files. During that time, we will need to keep copies of some of the data in both SQL Server and FoxPro. I have been experimenting with SSIS packages in SQL Server, to try to post data changes from SQL to the companion VFP tables. Inserting new records into VFP is easy. Identifying which records have been changed and need to be updated in VFP seems straightforward enough. However, I am having absolutely no success in actually performing the update. I have tried both "OLE DB command", directly using an UPDATE statement, as well as using an "OLE DB destination" from a "Conditional Split" as per some web blog ideas. All attempts error out and fail to update the VFP data. Does the VFP ODBC driver permit actual update/deletes, or only inserts? Assistance would be much appreciated.
