Cross-checking should be done with as many lists as possible: Matching up any registered voters should generate a hit on more than one list. Dead men voting would often be caught at least afterwards in runs one month and one year later. Also you would get through basic datamining a few scores signifying the possibility of non-existant people or those voting when this priviledge has been suspended. Examining these registrations in more detail should be more effective - data mining works.

>Not a bad idea, but what about those not employed? Do they get disinfranchized? Or do we check against welfare rolls, SSN benefit rolls, retired railroad workers rolls, etc as well? People seldom are unwilling to prove their identity when it comes to receiving money...

>>>There's that pesky problem of employers reporting your income and address by your SSN to the IRS... :o) They always find you eventually :o) If it was voluntary, I doubt many would pay, or if they did, it would be a much smaller amount.

>>No doubt that you got my point beneath those smiles ;-)
>>Why not establish a system where voters will at least cross checked via IRS database / SSN ?
>>Dead man voting would raise red flags quite often as date of death will be reported to be rid of tax forms or to assess inheritance taxes.

>>Checking on everybody not already on these lists should be a task magnitudes easier.
