I cannot look at the links now, just quickly saw the second one and I think I get the gist of your comment and it makes you wonder indeed. Something else is that this new oil discoveries (ie. Brazil) are in regions that are more "Western" friendly which should be also factored in when determining availability and therefore prices, I suppose
