>Helen had a knee replaced about ten years ago. A year or two later she had a stroke. Because of the stroke the surgeons will not risk replaceing the other knee. That is the knee that went ascew when she fell. If you could see the xray, you'd gag. The tibia and fibula went backward and just the tip of the tibia's forward portion is still touching the back part of the femur. Anyway, she is on some powerful pain killers and is being looked after well. AND "Hello Ripley." - believe it or not, the hospital food is delicious.

Sorry to hear they can't replace the knee on this one. I imagine the pain killers must be really something. Glad to hear they are treating her well though. I have nothing but praise for the people (nurses, doctors and physios) who were looking after me, but in her case, it sounds like the chef has been in a kitchen before now. Best of luck to her. Keep a positive outlook. It's what got me through.
