Having watched all three of the interview tapes I fail to see the problem.

What you have is a delegate saying the equivalent of "I will vote for the first person to pledge to support my pet project." Substitute repeal of Roe v Wade; tighter gun control laws; flag burning ammendment; environmental issues; etc. and you have this sort of thing repeated for any number of delegates in any party and any election.

He's not asking for the money for himself. It won't even be spent in his own community since the courting of the Mexican-American vote is well established in CA and won't require additional funding. I tend to be very easily swayed by articulate people (in moments of weakness I've even found myself almost agreeing with Bill Kuhn, John Harvey, and John Koziol on various issues) and he strikes me as well spoken and making valid points.

Sure, he's selling his vote. The price is support for the projects he believes in (actively recruiting the Mexican American vote for the Democratic party). "Support the things I believe in and I'll vote for you." Don't we all do that????
