I was having trouble with the speed of VSS; loading a project with about a hundred files was taking about three minutes.

Today I did two things, working directly with VSS, and the load time went way down to fifteen seconds or so. Unluckily, I wasn´t doing things the "lab way", so I cannot say which achieved the speedup, or if both are needed. Anyway, here it goes:

First, go to File, Properties, Deleted Items, and purge the project.

Second, goto Tools, Options, Local Files, and remove the checkmark for "Copy Keyword expanded files into working folder".

...and that´s it! Well, OK, so I don´t know what´s "it" exactly, but it worked! I think the changes were the solution, thought maybe it was just some kind of side effect, but the net result is that my VSS speed is acceptable now. Anyway, I think it´s worth a try, isn´t it?
