Following the same advice Randy gave.............
1. When you call the report make sure the Veg is the currently selected table.

2. In the report form create a data grouping on Strain
in the menu click Report and Data Grouping
put Strain as the Group Expression
in Group Properties click Start Each Group on a New Page

3. Put all the fields you need in the Detail band. Do not include an alias in the field name.

4. In the Group Footer Band put the field you need totalled (presumably Quantity).

5. Double click on the field and in the Report Expression Dialog click Calculations. Select Sum.

FWIW.......I use VFP 8 rather than 9. I know that the report writer has been significantly enhanced, but I think this portion of the report writer is substantially the same.
