  • Custom Page or Printer Form on Crystal Report and different machines FAQ #29158
    >>
    >>Thanks Sergey, but Oh My, this is going to take a while to digest. Does the page definition need to be created with every report run or just once for each machine?

We may be on the wrong track here. The reports in question don't require a custom size. They use either standard legal or standard 11x17 both of which are available in the destination printers. But they are not the default for the printer. So currently the user has to specify the printer properties for each print run and set the paper size (a nuisance), otherwise the report comes out on the default 8.5x11 size and is truncated because it doesn't fit.

If I save the printer environment with the report, (my default is an HP 8550) the user has even more trouble trying to get it out on his/her Canon/whatever. My puzzle is . . .if the report is designed for legal 8.5x14 paper, why doesn't the report engine tell the printer to use legal paper no matter which printer is chosen?

BTW - I'm currently using reportbehavior = 80. I tried the new engine but it messed up the formatting on some of the reports.
