I know that he is a charming, charismatic and dangerously radical Marxist whose ideas have been tried and failed catastrophically in recent history. He has the potential to recreate the economic malaise and foreign policy disasters of the 70s because if he's actually elected then I fully believe the Senate will achieve the Democratic super-majority needed to stop any filibuster.

For that matter, he may be exactly what this country needs, ie a reminder of how detrimental Marxist policies are to the economic stability of this country and the safety of the world at large.

>>>Careful - Carter didn't have the opportunity to turn the entire middle east over to terrorists, and terrorists did not have the resources and/or the sources (korea, pakistan, china,Russia, iran, syria, germany, france) to buy/create major weapons of mass destruction or the means to launch them on a theater-wide scale. Obama does and apparently will.

>>Obama will turn the Middle East over to terrorists? What makes you think that? (Assuming for the sake of argument it is ours to turn over to anyone).

>Run from Iraq. Hand it over. How long before the Saudis and Kuwaitis go under since they know we've cut and run?

He won't be able to run from Iraq. This seems to be something that people on both sides are missing. If Obama orders the retreat then he and his party own the loss. Regardless of the political victory in the very short term, the long lasting effects of the US pulling out will be blood on their hands. The political and military leadership knows this. Regardless of who wins in November, the US military will be present in Iraq for decades to come. It is a critically important strategic position for the West. Never forget that we're desired there by many local countries who are supporting our efforts in an effort to avoid the wider regional war that will occur without our presence.
