Now that's support until 2015... I can't imagine any other company stating they would continue support but no enhancements but not have a single developer assigned to that task.

He could not guarantee that anything would be done because there is no team and if things can get worked on, he could not guarantee a time frame. People would have to do the fixes on their own time or be allowed to work on the bugs by their current managers. There are other issues regarding testing and distribution (hot fixes, another SP, or some other method) that had to be worked out. The bottom line, Alan did not say "no". So, the door is open that things may happen.
