I like that you listed your son as No. 1 priority. If I may share with you my way of dealing with shyness and/or social issues with kids. IMHO (after raising two daughters) kids watch more what we do than what we say. I have always tried to be very social with adult strangers when having my kids with me. They will watch how you are with strangers and will try to emulate you.

Also, introducing them to pot early in life does wonders <bg>.
