So, do you have any statistics on people who have commited "gun crimes" and were also permitted to carry a handgun? Gee, I know I don't know much in this area, after 31 years of dealing with the lowlifes, but I don't recall ever arresting anyone for a gun crime, who had a carry permit. It was always a thug sans carry permit.
