I wrote a short story or two, back in the day, but I never thought anyone would pay me to write for a living. Then again, I never thought anyone would pay anyone to write stories....

I like the notion of a quid-pro-quo, and one that is quided or quoed every few weeks. . . something about paying the bills and eating regularly.
