He was sort of a Horatio Alger story, a man who started with nothing and became very rich in the construction business, largely due to close ties he formed with the Saudi royal family. I knew he had 54 children by 22 wives (officially). I also knew he was known to be a devout Muslim. What I didn't know is that Islamic law allows a man only four wives at once (only? <g>) and that a divorce is as simple as the man saying "I divorce you." Mohammed bin Laden the pious Muslim married innumerable "wives" in the afternoon and divorced them by nightfall.
