IMO this one should maybe be thankful the attempt had to be aborted. I salute adventurers but there is a thin line between bravery and recklessness. Hence the French government's refusal to allow an attempt over France. Mr. Fournier might have returned to earth more suddenly than he wanted to, with not much left behind. For that matter the descent itself could have killed him before he even had a chance to land.
