Nah. generally, it's Republicans who wants what's best for the country and want to be self-sufficient.

I think liberal democrats and left tend to be "what can be governement do for ME?". Often they think they know what's best for you.

That impulse has been dormant in this country for at least 30 years. It's been a while since we had a Presidential candidate who inspired people like this. You would have to go back to Reagan's first term to find something similar.

Organizations like Peace Corps has been dormant the last 30 years? I just met a couple who just came back from Ghana and read about people going on missions to help third world countries all the time. Some stay there for years or make a life time commitment.
