As I said, you're spot on!
This is why we look at things like the VFP .Net compiler project as a possible bridge between VFP and a .Net re-write, but not as a viable development path moving forward. It's why we convert forms and reports, but not code. It's why we advocate re-architecture in most cases (yes, we have come across 1, count em' 1 VFP app that was well architected into tiers). In real life, we throw away about 75% of what was coded in VFP. Very little of the .Net code looks anything like the original VFP code. The things that come across best are SQL statements which usually require a little tweaking, but get you 90% of the way there.
