The Iraq war, like the rising demand of China and India are minimal contributers but they make great sound bites for the masses to repeat over and over like gospel. Here's what it said in the article:
The oil economist Dr Mamdouh Salameh, who advises both the World Bank and the UN Industrial Development Organisation (Unido), told The Independent on Sunday that the price of oil would now be no more than $40 a barrel, less than a third of the record $135 a barrel reached last week, if it had not been for the Iraq war.He also calculated the cost to the world economy at more than $6 trillion.
If that's minimal, could somebody please slip me a couple of lousy $trillion. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
