>>>Speaking of tango, that was some takedown by Carlos Tevez in the Euro final, wasn't it? I must admit it was nice seeing him take someone else down instead of diving himself!

>>Oh, I never watched European football. In fact since I moved to Canada it has been always difficult to catch any soccer from Argentina so I lost interest in it (of course the fact that "my" team, Independiente is sucking lately does not help much to the cause <g>), unless it is the World Cup or the Copa America. From time to time I can catch a game in FoxSports or GolTV where they show Argentinean Soccer, so if my wife is not around I can watch it, otherwise I am only allowed to watch the Spurs <g>, I think I only watch 4 matches of the Argentinean league in the last 10 years! And to think I went quite regularly to the stadium to watch them live, I thought it would be impossible to survive without that, but I guess humans are resilient and can adapt <g>). By the way, if you ever go to Argentina you should try to catch a "clásico" (a match between any of the "big 5" teams, Independiente, Rácing, San Lorenzo, River or Boca, with River vs. Boca being the "Super Clásico") Being in the
>>stadium during this matches is a completely different experience, if you survive, of course <g>

>I don't know much about South American futbol other than that the fans are passionate and the teams are very good. Is there a lot of hooliganism at matches like there is in Europe?

Hi Mike,

Well, I thought the bit I said "if you survive" would answer your question quite nicely <g>. I've been in some matches were terrible things happened, or learnt about terrible events in the news, like people being killed for wearing the "wrong" team colours near the stadium etc. But I think with caution and discretion (I always removed my teams colours if outside the stadium for example) it is a wonderful spectacle, I always loved the chant duel between the team's fans, most of the time insulting the other team <g> but getting back an equally or more insulting song back <g>

Anyways, yesterday while I was watching my Spurs getting slaughtered (snif) my wife was talking on the phone with her brother in Buenos Aires, and He told her that my team (Independiente) will play in North America including Canada, although the cities in Canada are not still confirmed, I hope they play in Vancouver, although my guess is that they will only play in Toronto. If I remember correctly they will play in Ohio and in Atlanta in the US.
