Macro can be used. Nothing else.

SELECT PatientID, lastname, firstname FROM Patients INTO CURSOR csrResult ;
ORDER BY &lcSQLSortCol

Same rule applies for all other parts of select statement.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
