Got everything mostly working...thanks for the help. One thing I noticed though when doing some other testing is if the combo starts up with nothing picked (because in this case, I just appended a record and the value of the "ID" field is zero which does not have a corresponding option in the combos rows)...in this case, the .ListItemID was 1 (when I thought it would be zero or as the book states, -1) although .ListItem was correctly zero. I was using .ListItemID throughout my code as that was "safer" if I happen to append or remove items from the list.
So something seems to have changed. Any ideas or did VFP change over time?
