Not complete fabrication because it
does happen , but not to that (parranoid) extent as it is presented to general public.
Extent of it is pure fabrication & psyho-engeneering.
It does have some bearings with religion (ancient religious battles)
but has much more to do with
reality then religion.
Suicide (and other) bombings are happening mostly in
directly occupied territories which are Iraq, Avganistan, parts of Palestine and some other places. Take these
abnormal situations out, and then you can draw some more realistic picture, stats, conclusions etc.

When you speak about 'Muslim World' then this includes Turkey, Indonesia, Nort Africa, Gulf countries, ex-Soviet Muslim republics etc.
Go Walk streets of Dubai or Istanbul (or even Teheran!) and tell me do these
